Long Valley Washinton Township Real Estate

Agricultural beauty combines with the amenities of the ‘burbs in Washington Township. From historic stone barns and ruins (perfect for that Insta photo-op!) to coffee shops, restaurants, outdoor trails, and more – this place has it all!

This isn’t just any old Washington Township (New Jersey has six of them). Morris County’s Washington Township is home to scenic landscapes, tons of history, and convenient amenities, making this Washington Township the place to be!

Incorporated in 1798, Washington Township is brimming with history. Some accounts believe Schooley’s Mountain, an unincorporated section of Washington Township, to have been America’s earliest summer resort. In addition to the Schooley’s Mountain section, other unincorporated sections of Washington Township include Long Valley, Bartley, Bettystown, Crestmoore, Drakestown, Fairmount, Four Bridges, German Valley, Lake George, Middle Valley, Naughright, Parker, Pleasant Grove, Pottersville, Scrappy Corner, Springtown and Stephensburg.

Spanning just under 45 square miles (44.771 sq mi or 115.957 km2) Washington Township is home to the greatest amount of preserved farmland in the county, assuring the presence of the township’s natural beauty for years to come. Take a drive to one of the many remaining original, stone structures or stop by Valley Shepherd Creamery in downtown Long Valley for a taste of some fresh, artisan cheeses. Walk off those calories on the Columbia Trail, which begins in Washington Township (Long Valley) and continues on for over 15 miles through Califon and into the heart of High Bridge. There’s no shortage of activities here!

While exploring the township is a wonderful aspect of living in Washington Township, it is easily accessible to Rts. 206 and 78 – and lots of great food and shopping. Wake up to a morning espresso at the Coffee Potter on Schooley’s Mountain (a Leaf, Realtors fave!) and visit one of the many restaurants in Restaurant Village for a bite to eat — from sushi to steaks, they’ve got you covered!

But it’s not all fun and games, at times, we need to get serious and hit the books! The Washington Township School District provides education for residents of Washington Township in Kindergarten through eighth grade at twp district schools. Benedict A. Cucinella Elementary School (Pre-K-5), Flocktown-Kossman Elementary School (Pre-K-5), and Old Farmers Road Elementary School (K-5) all serve students in elementary school. Students in public school grades 6-8 attend the Long Valley Middle School in Washington Township. Public school students residing in Washington Township grades 9-12 attend West Morris Central High School.

Other area schools include The Willow School, a small independent coeducational day school for students preschool through eighth grade, Gill St. Bernards, a private, nonsectarian, coeducational, college preparatory day school, and The Purnell School, a progressive private all-girls boarding high school.

If commuting to work is more your thing, by car, Lebanon Township is easily accessible from major highways and approximately 75 minutes from NYC, 55 minutes from Newark, and 80 minutes from Trenton. Nearby train stations include Gladstone (100 minutes to NYC), High Bridge (120 minutes to NYC), and Whitehouse Station (100 minutes to NYC).

The perfect blend of beautifully preserved (quiet!) farmland and all those everyday conveniences that we can’t live without. Add in a touch of historic charm and you have a township that may just be home sweet home!
